Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that focuses primarily on ground fighting. Practitioners utilize take-downs, pins, joint locks, and chokes to control and/or submit a resisting opponent. Full-contact sparring is practiced daily to test skills and hone techniques.
Essential Tips for Beginners
- The easiest way to improve is to show up
- Just relax, breathe, & move
- Skill is more important than strength
- Focus on defense first
- If you aren't losing you aren't learning
